Now available... "liquor"!

Posted by Wine Gourmet on

Did you know that by Virginia Law only ABC stores can carry liquor but if it is wine based like your favorite vermouth's… you can get it at a wine shop like ours?!
By definition liquor is an alcoholic beverage produced by distillation of grains, fruit, or vegetables that have already gone through alcoholic fermentation. The purpose of distillation is to remove the impurities from the liquid, increasing the alcohol content and resulting in those strong spirits you find in your local ABC stores. While state law doesn’t allow the sale of liquor in retail establishments, it does allow the sale of beer and wine, including fortified wine! Now what is fortified wine you might ask? Ever tried Port, Sherry, or Vermouth? Fortified wines are wines that have a distilled spirit added before or after the wine is fermented, producing a fermented (not distilled) wine with higher alcohol content.  Thus giving you grape wine “liquors” that come in competition with your favorite spirits.  Come check out these grape wines for yourself and see how they hold up to the classic vodka, gin, tequila, whiskey, and bourbon! NOW AVAILABLE IN-STORE!
