National Beer Day Weekend Sale!

Posted by Wine Gourmet on

To celebrate the glorious occasion, Friday through Sunday, enjoy 10% OFF beer and beer accessories and an additional 10% OFF cases of beer (you know that means 20% off cases, right?).

The Brief History of National Beer Day

Let’s travel back to the year 1933, the last year of prohibition. Two American politicians (we’ll call them heroes) by the names Pat Harrison and Thomas H. Cullen sponsored the Cullen-Harrison act, contending for the legal sale of beer with low alcohol content. On March 21st, it was enacted by congress and the next day signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as he famously declared, “I think this would be a good time for a beer”.

It wasn’t until April 7th that the legalization became effective, thus establishing National Beer Day to commemorate the legislative breakthrough. That day newspaper headlines boasted the return of the sale of beer that citizens around the country had awaited to hear. Later that year, the 21st amendment was ratified, repealing prohibition and allowing the legal sale of alcohol.

Now every year on April the 7th, we continue the celebration! Stop by the store all weekend and celebrate with us! From shelves with over 650 beer labels to beer bottle toys for your pets - we’ve got everything you need to show your love for the brew!
