Join us for a special tasting with Spanish producer, Hammeken Cellars, and Puppie from International Cellars on Thursday, October 24th.

Unlike other producers, Hammeken Cellars uses “New World” winemaking techniques with traditional grapes, creating a modern collection of wines that represent a new generation of Spanish wine making. Through focusing on consumer trends, they have created a portfolio of branded wines that deliver affordable luxury in every bottle. At this special tasting, we’ll sample the selections below from several of their lines including some you’ve seen in our store before as well as some more new, highly allocated selections. Tasting Notes

Gotas De Mar Albarino
Brilliant pale lemon colour. Intense aromas of peaches, white flowers, minerals and a hint of fresh sea breeze. On the palate, a well balanced prominent acidity with stone fruits and light mineraity. Lingering finish, with a mouth watering acidity and long complex persistence.

El Gringo Dark Red Tempranillo
100% Tempranillo
Clear deep ruby-purple colour. Clean and distinguished aromas of black cherries, strawberries, roasted coffee beans and chocolate. On the palate berry flavours with juiciness getting smoothed out with light vanilla and delicate milk chocolate and roasted Java bean. On the palate the wine is luscious, full-bodied with firm and velvety tannins and a long finish.
Aged for 4 months in 1-2 year old French and American oak barrels.

Manos Libre Organic Temprañillo
Deep red colour, purple rim. Aromas reminiscent of strawberries, black cherries and blueberries balancede nicely with dark chocolate and toasted oak. On the palate, the wine is full bodied with layers that unravel and excite.
Partially aged in French Oak.

Tosalet Priorat 2014 Vineyes Velles
50% Garnacha, 35% Carignan, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon
Clear deep dark purple colour. Pure and very intense aromas reminiscent of red berry fruit such as cranberries, red cherries and raspberries combined with mineral notes of flint and hints of eucalyptus. The palate is dry, full bodied with rich concentrated juicy fruit, firm but ripe tannins and a refreshing acidity making this a great food wine.

Creencia Con Juventud Monastrell
100% Monastrell
Deep dark red colour, with ruby rims. On the nose is intense, with accents of black cherries and dry figs, with nicely mixed with notes of dried tomatoes, rosemary honey, and hints of freshly roasted coffee beans. On the palate is beautifully balanced, and has a refreshing acidity, with firm and ripe tannins. It has a long finish on cooking herbs and black pepper.
Aged for 6 months in French oak barrels.
 
Gran Pasas Monastrell November Harvest
100% Monastrell
Deep dark ruby red colour with violet blue rim. The aromas are mature blackberries, ripe juicy dark cherries gentle notes of wild herbs balanced off with a dark chocolate. On the palate the wine is rich and juicy with good concentration between mature fruits and rich dark chocolate with a natural sweetness and gentle tannins that lay smooth over the palate.
Aged for 6 months in French oak.
