A Special Tasting with Parés Baltà

Posted by Wine Gourmet on

Parés Baltà is a family owned winery in Barcelona, Spain whose origins go back to 1790. Today the company is run by two brothers, the 3rd generation, with the help of their father and wives. Together, they produce high quality wines and cavas with grapes hailing from 5 estates with varying altitudes. These estates mean they have a large variety of microclimates that lend a unique personality to each of their wines. Join us on February 20th for a special tasting with Parés Baltà’s export manager, Oriol Bargallo, to taste 6 of their vinos! Learn more about each wine we'll be tasting below.

Brut Cava

Coupage of the traditional three varieties from the Penedes: Parellada, Macabeu and Xarel·lo. The Parellada, proceeding from the highest mountains of the Penedes, dominates and contributes to the freshness of its floral notes, preserved from its special micro climate. The Macabeu grape brings the fruit and the Xarel·lo provides the body, and together they complete this natural cava.

Tasting Notes: Pale yellow color with brilliant hints. Medium intense aroma. White fruits (pear, apple) and floral notes and a slight touch of creaminess. Fresh and lively in the mouth, with the fruit notes dominating. Light and soft, with a pleasant finish.

Blanc de Pacs

Blend of the 3 traditional varieties from Penedès: Xarel·lo, Parellada and Macabeu. Three varieties cultivated especially to create a white wine that obtains its intense aroma from the freshness of the fruit. Xarel·lo gives the body, Macabeu the fruit and Parellada, cultivated in the highest mountains of Penedès, provides with the freshness and the delicate floral notes.

Tasting Notes: Yellow lemon colour with light greenish tinges. Very intense aroma, dominated by mature white fruits (pear and apple) covering a light floral background. On the palate it is fresh and with a good acidity. It is a soft wine that leaves an intense sensation of fruits and freshness on the finish.

Cosmic

Close to the sky, on the top of the highest Penedes mountains, is where the freshest and most perfumed grapes of Xarel·lo and Sauvignon Blanc grown. Cosmic, Xarel·lo with a special touch…

Tasting Notes: Pale yellow colour. Very intense aroma of flowers and white fruit with a citric and mineral reminiscence. Fresh and smooth, full of nuances. Floral and citric notes are more present in the mouth, good acidity and long aftertaste.

Ros de Pacs

With this rosé made of the best adapted varieties in our landscape country, the Grenache, the Syrah and the Cabernet Sauvignon, we want to bring the spring sensations into your wineglass. A basket of juicy red summer fruits, a brunch of flowers, as a poppies field. A fresh, soft, aromatic wine to enjoy in good company.

Tasting Notes: Rosewood color. Delicate on the nose with notes of red fruits from the woods, raspberry and cherry. Elegant and delicate aroma. In the mouth it is light and fresh, with a very interesting balance between the acidity level and the light sweetness of the residual sugar.

Indigena

Produced from young vines from the high mountains of Pontons. A native Penedès Garnatxa, fresh and greedy, just as it was in the days of our ancestors.

Tasting Notes: Vivid red and maroon shades reflecting the color of the fruit. In the nose explode with intensity and freshness. Complex aroma with floral fragances, creamy notes and wild fruit. Demonstrated the importance of fruit also in the mouth. Leaving subtle hints of spice and hints of toasted, being the protagonists, balance and openness. Surprise its structure and long aftertaste, getting a good final assembly. Originality invited to taste it.

Mas Petit

We select the softest Cabernet Sauvignon and combine it with the delicate and aromatic Garnatxa to create our most classical red wine. Round and seamless, full of fruit and ripeness to balance the oak. This is Mas Petit; pleasure at any given moment with or without food.

Tasting Notes: Medium intense cherry hue. Predominating smell of red fruits covering a background of toasty notes and vanilla. On the palate it is soft and friendly and with smooth tannins; flavors of red fruits, as cherries, combined with a touch of vanilla.
